  • Thursday 7 April 2022 Experience Easter Year 5/6 explored the events of Holy Week through a range of interactive activities at the Church this morning. A huge thank you to Laura, Liz, Patsy and Judy for organising and guiding us through these activities. We had a brilliant morning.
  • Wednesday 16 March 2022 Y5 and 6 Netball Festival @ Cotswold School 6 children, from Year 5 and 6, represented Northleach at a Netball festival this week taking place at the Cotswold School. They played 7 matches in total on full size netball courts (which was particularly tiring as it was 5 a side) and ran their hearts out.
  • Wednesday 16 March 2022 Year 5 Science Day 2022 On Monday this week, Year 5 had a whole day of science to celebrate British Science Week. Our day involved researching Gentoo Penguins with the aim of building a suitable nest for them to raise their young.
  • Monday 7 March 2022 Y5 World Book Day 2022 On Thursday, we celebrated the 25th year of World Book Day. All the children came dressed as a character from a book they've read and enjoyed! The children also shared and recommended their favourite book to each other before swapping and reading the books recommended to them.
  • Friday 21 January 2022 Year 5 First Aid Day Y5 had a very busy day on Tuesday this week learning all about how to keep ourselves safe and what to do in an emergency. The children covered all sorts, from the recovery position to CPR, to asthma attacks and dressing wounds.
  • Wednesday 15 December 2021 Christmas Party and Christmas Cards Year 5 had a lovely time making Christmas cards and dancing during their Christmas party! We played lots of games and saw some impressive... and interesting dance moves!
  • Wednesday 15 December 2021 Year 5 Rivers Bubble Homework Year 5 produced some lovely pieces of homework all about our topic - Rivers!
  • Friday 10 December 2021 Year 5 & 6 Computing On Thursday, Years 5 and 6 had a day of computing. Our focus was quizzes and the children were brilliant. After exploring a variety of question types ranging from sequencing and mathematical to multiple choice, the children were tasked with creating a quiz suitable for KS1. We even had the chance to share our quizzes with the lovely Year 2s!
  • Thursday 18 November 2021 Y5 and 6 River Trip This morning Year 5 and 6 visited the River Leach to carry out fieldwork. After identifying the river on an OS map and labelling key human and physical features the children took a walk along the river and tried to spot some of these features first-hand. After identifying that the river was part of the river's upper course, they sat and sketched a small section carefully observing the different features.
  • Tuesday 16 November 2021 Life Education Last week we had a visit from Alex Crump of Life Education. Our sessions was incredibly informative as we learnt about making important decisions regarding peer pressure. This included smoking, drugs and standing up for ourselves by being assertive.
  • Friday 8 October 2021 Year 5 Science - Light Year 5 have been focusing on light in their current science unit. This week, we learned all about how we are able to see different colours based on wavelengths and which colours are reflected and absorbed. The children were amazed that because bananas reflect the colour yellow, theoretically they are blue!
