  • Friday 27 May 2022 Necklaces fit for a Queen The final step in our jewellery making was stringing all the beads together. Look at the finished results, they are fantastic and definitely fit for royalty!
  • Friday 27 May 2022 Painting our beads The next step was painting our beads and again, the children worked really hard. They used cocktail sticks to hold the beads steady whilst they painted each one.
  • Friday 27 May 2022 Making Clay Beads As our topic is all about the Queen, we decided to make some beads fit for royalty. We used clay and moulded it into individual beads. Then we used a skewer to put a hole through the middle of each bead. Look how hard they are concentrating.
  • Friday 29 April 2022 The Queen This term our topic is 'The Queen.' We made a start by looking at photographs showing key moments from her very long life. The children really enjoyed explaining each photo and then placing them on a timeline.
  • Friday 25 March 2022 Tennis in the sunshine Year 2 had a gorgeous afternoon in their P.E. lesson. Rob, our sports coach, set up the nets and the children practised their tennis skills. Everyone worked really hard and we have some very talented players in our class.
  • Friday 4 March 2022 World book day We had a lovely day in Year 2 celebrating World Book Day. We dressed up as our favourite book character and enjoyed telling the class all about our chosen characters. Then we designed our own bookmarks to use when we are enjoying our independent reading sessions. Finally, we were able to choose books donated for the book swap. There were so many books to choose from and some of us have already started reading our choices!
  • Thursday 17 February 2022 Making Houses with a moving part We have had such a busy day! The children had to design and make a house with a moving part. It had to look like a house from the time of the Great Fire of London and it had to include a working mechanism.
  • Tuesday 15 February 2022 Tree Planting We walked through Northleach with our Year 4 partners to the tree planting site. The town trustees met us at the gate of the field and took us to see the trees. The children had to each find a sapling and plant it with its own protective shield. This was great fun!
  • Tuesday 15 February 2022 'Dress to Express' To celebrate Children's Mental Health week, we 'dressed to express.' Then we thought about different ways we could look after our mental health.
  • Friday 28 January 2022 The Great Fire of Northleach! We decided to recreate the Fire of London and so put cardboard houses right next to each other. We set fire to one at the end and watched what happened.....we saw that the fire spread very quickly through each house and only stopped when there were no more houses in the row.
  • Friday 28 January 2022 Music In Music we have been listening to different styles of the same song.
  • Friday 14 January 2022 The Great Fire of London The children are loving our new topic. They have already written amazing descriptions of 17th century Pudding Lane and have sequenced the main events of the fire. We started to compare the fire fighting methods of 1666 with the modern day and, as you can see in these photos, they worked very hard!
  • Friday 17 December 2021 Treasure Hunt The Worship Committee organised a festive treasure hunt for all the children. It was great fun and there was even an actual treasure chest at the end!
  • Friday 10 December 2021 Christmas Jumper Day Today we all wore our Christmas jumpers in school to raise money for Save the Children. We really enjoyed this and felt very festive!
  • Wednesday 8 December 2021 Computing Day We have been very busy working on our computing skills. Our focus was Coding and the children are now very good at creating algorithms and debugging!
  • Wednesday 8 December 2021 Christmas Crafts Today was our annual Christmas Crafts organised by The School Association and, as always, it was really lovely! The children had a wonderful time making their tree decoration, a bauble, a fortune teller and a reindeer Christmas card.
  • Wednesday 8 December 2021 Making Chapatis The children had a wonderful day making chapatis. First of all, they wrote a list of the ingredients and numbered instructions. They then used weighing scales to measure out their ingredients and followed the recipe carefully. Whilst the chapatis were cooking, everybody drew Rangoli patterns and made their own boxes to take everything home.
  • Friday 3 December 2021 Christmas Fair Today was a very exciting day! It was our school Christmas Fair and all the children bought gifts for members of their family. They went into the hall with their shopping lists and had a lovely time choosing their presents from the wonderful selection of items. There was even a pet stall! A huge thank you to everyone involved, the children loved it!
  • Friday 26 November 2021 Making Music The children had a wonderful music session today!
  • Thursday 25 November 2021 Testing Materials in Science The children worked really hard to test which materials were the most durable and waterproof. They built a little house for Mowgli and tested each material to see which one kept him dry. It was a lovely afternoon!
  • Thursday 18 November 2021 Rangoli Patterns As part of our topic about India, we looked at Rangoli patterns. The children then used the primary colours and mixed secondary colours to create their own patterns. It was a lovely activity and everybody worked really hard.
  • Friday 12 November 2021 Pyjama Day To raise money for 'Children in Need' we had a pyjama day. It was great fun and nobody fell asleep!
  • Thursday 11 November 2021 Life Education Life Education came to talk to us and we thought about our feelings. We learnt how important our friends are and how we should treat other people.
  • Wednesday 10 November 2021 Fun in Geography We had a lovely afternoon learning about the continents. The children had a continent jigsaw and were asked to put all seven pieces back together in the right place. They did brilliantly and even started making comparisons between the seven continents.
  • Friday 5 November 2021 Indian food tasting As an introduction to our topic about India, we tasted some Indian food. We had a lovely time and talked about the different flavours.
  • Friday 22 October 2021 Harvest What a busy half term! The children have worked so hard and loved our topic about Paddington Bear. We are so impressed with how hard everyone has worked and the progress they have made.
