Maple World Book Day

On Thursday we celebrated World Book Day and came to school dressed as a character in a book or in snuggly clothes ready for a bedtime story. 

 We joined over 12,500 other children from around the UK and took part in the Live Great Big World Book Day Footy and Booky Quiz 2026. 

We read the story 'I (Hate) Love Books' by Mariajo Ilustrajo all about a girl who has been has been given the most enormous, unreasonable and impossible task, to read a whole book in the summer holidays! There’s just one problem. She hates books. Or does she? Soon enough, she finds herself tumbling into a storybook world so magical, it ignites a new passion that will last forever…

We also explored the idea that 'All Reading Counts!' and created A-Z lists of things we read. 

And to top off a fab day, we received a personal video message from the author of our class reader for this term - Ben Miller! Thank you so much Ben!
