Yesterday, Reception were exploring ice. Something or someone was trapped inside two identical blocks of ice - how could we get them out without hurting them? The children decided to keep one block of ice inside the classroom near a radiator and the other outside on the wall in the sunshine. Which one would melt fastest? The children made predictions and then we observed the ice over the day to see if their predictions were right.
The children also explored and played with ice shapes that had been made outside overnight.
