Heart Dissection
On Friday 19th April, the children in Alder Class were visited by a teacher from The Cotswold School - our local secondary school - who brought with her a lamb's heart! To link to our science unit: Animals, including humans and our learning about the circulatory system, she performed a dissection so we could further learn about the parts of the heart and the journey of blood cells around the body. (Most) of the children found this a very informative practical session. We began the session learning about the size of different animals' hearts, each represented by different sized balls. Some children then used string to replicate the size of a blue whale's heart - it was enormous!
